Thailand is world famous not only for its nightlife and excellent food, but for its many wonderful islands. The most difficult part is simply deciding where you want to go. Not to worry though, where-ever you end up, you are sure to find something you like, and maybe even love! It is a good idea to think about why you are coming here and what you want to find and do. Some islands are full of girls and nightlife and discos and bars, while other islands are quite rugged and undeveloped especially if you are willing to be a little adventurous. Some islands have excellent underwater formations and coral reefs that make for amazing dives, while other islands are more suited to jet skis and wave runners. The single male or female travelers will a good time on some of the Thai islands while other islands might be better enjoyed by established couples for a quiet romantic getaway. Koh Samui and Phuket are the most famous of the Thai islands. Both of these islands are fairly well developed and will have everything you could want. There are lots of girls and men, both foreign and local. There are nightclubs, beach parties, bars, and great nightlife. If you are looking for a tropical island paradise mixed in with great nightlife, then these are two great places to visit. You will also find some great daytime entertainment such as jet skiing, boat rides, fishing, snorkeling, diving, hiking, or just sipping a cold one or three on the beach. You will easily be able to find a nice Thai massage to sooth those sore muscles. Koh samui and Phuket both have good airports and flights can easily be arranged to and from these scenic islands. My own personal favorite is Koh phangan. Koh Samui's quieter neighbor offers a mix of everything. The first thing most people think when mentioning Koh Phangan is the world famous Full Moon Party. I have been on the island for many a full moon, but have always preferred to steer clear of the big party. I have heard mixed reviews. For hardcore, or young and energetic partiers it is a great experience. Hotels are fairly easy to find on most of the well known islands. You can even find a good 4 or 5 star hotel is that is what you are looking for. Bungalows are usually seperate buildings that can range from full service with kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom complete with air conditioning and TV, to bargain beach huts with nothing more than a single room and roof over your head. Whatever your budget there is a good place for you to stay. For those living or staying in Bangkok, Koh Samet offers white sandy beaches and warm water for swimming, snorkeling and other water activities. There are some other well know islands like Koh Phi Phi, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao.

The great thing about Thailands incredible islands is that you can often easily travel from on to another and get a taste of a few different islands on the same trip. You will find that each island, and even each bay or beach has its own very unique feel and personality. 
Tons of beautiful people, tons of alcohol and music, white sandy beach and crystal clear water. Most everyone is there to have fun, and it is easy to hook up with like minded people. From the more reserved, quiet or older folks, I often hear that it is best to avoid the Full Moon party like the plague. Hadd Rin where this monthly shindig takes place is fast becoming a replica of the more developed islands like Koh Samui and Phuket. The northern, western and especially eastern parts of this Island are a different story. It is not unusual to find your own personal beach to hang out on, depending on the time of year you go. You can find a nice little bungalow in the hills overlooking Koh Phangan and Koh Samui, or a beach side bungalow where you can fall asleep to the sounds of the waves rolling in. There is some excellent diving in the nearby marine national park or at the famous "sail rock", or the Chumporn pinnacle. My final words on Koh phangan are that "it sucks and you shouldn't go there and tell everyone you know the same thing!"
